#BookishBlogHop How do you feel about cliffhangers?

I am taking part in my first ever Bookish Blog Hope with my fellow book bloggers over at the Bookish Blog Hops FB group.

Today’s question is:
How do you feel about cliffhangers?

Cliffhangers – I love to hate them! Generally speaking I hate cliffhangers when I know that I do not have the next book to hand to read, I would much rather read a series that each book is tied up at the end, not leaving huge cliffhangers, especially if the next book isnt even close to be released.

It would appear that my fellow book bloggers feel the same!

Now lets see what the others have to say:

Views She Writes https://viewsshewrites.wordpress.com

Hate it, unfortunately. It is very difficult to wait for the next book in the series. I would prefer series without cliffhangers.

Brandy Potter

It can get gimmicky. I like Krewe of hunters because each case is solved and the romantic side story completed by the end of each book. Harry Potter was always ok because there were resolutions as well. Same with Percy Jackson. But when you read a series and every single book is a cliffhanger, I end up not sleeping for days or Wikipeading the rest of the series just to get the story then I don’t read the books. The Sookie Stackhouse series was a perfect example of that.

Oh, cliffhangers are PAINFUL!! I don’t mind them in the middle of a book, but for sanity’s sake, do not give me a book that ends in a cliffhanger if the next book in the series doesn’t exist yet! It drives me insane.

I’m with Leslie on this one. Cliffhangers when the next book in the series isn’t out yet are the worst! I need to know what happens, and I’m not very good at being patient.

I’m with Brandy. It can be done right when the book also has resolutions. But, I’ve gotten sucked into buying books that should have only been one book. They clearly have cliffhangers because the author/publisher wanted to get more money on a second book. Those are the times when I really hate cliffhangers.

I enjoy the type of series where each book is its own story. Unfortunately, I tend to stop reading a series when I get impatient waiting on the next book and wait until the series is much further along to start reading again.

Great answers ladies! Be sure to check tomorrows stop over at Jo Linsdell www.jolinsdell.com where we will be answering the question ” What is your favourite genre to read?

Agree with all of you. Cliff-hangers are frustrating, especially when the sequel is not out yet.

This was a fun discussion. It appears everyone is in accord regarding their ‘disregard’ for cliffhangers 🙂

Lots like we all feel pretty much the same way about cliffhangers.
