Book Beginnings and Friday 56 #1
I have just discovered some book Memes BookBeginnings, hosted by Rose City Reader, and The Friday 56 – hosted by Freda’s Voice and in order to spice up the blog a little I am going to start taking part in these every Friday. Both memes involve sharing excerpts from a current book you are reading – the beginning and a sentence from page 56.
I am currently reading:

The Lake House Secret by Debra Burroghs
Jenessa Jones jammed her key into the car’s ignition and turned it. The engine of her twelve-year-old Toyota moaned a few times, trying to turn over.
First thoughts
Oh dear she is not having a good day is she!
I have just finished devouring Debra Burroughs Paradise Valley Mystery series and really loved her style and the characters she creates, so jumped right in a decided to start reading this series. I am not sure how this book is going to pan out as I am only on chapter 2! But I hope its a good one.

Rules:
*Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader
(If you have to improvise, that’s ok.)
*Find any sentence, (or few, just don’t spoil it)
*Post it.
Oh, my gosh, Jenessa! I was about to give up on you,” Ramey cried as she opened the door, dressed in her bathrobe. “Look at me, I’m a mess.

Book Blurb
With her life going from bad to worse, reporter Jenessa Jones is drawn back to her small hometown by a death in her family. When human remains are discovered not far from town, Jenessa is assigned the story, throwing her into the thick of town drama.
Caught between her old boyfriend, with whom she shares a sordid past, and her new love interest, who offers her something she has desperately been wanting, Jenessa is embroiled in a homicide investigation that ends up pointing the finger at someone she cares very much about. Can she uncover the truth of this murder before it destroys her family and any chance she has for a happy life?
What are our thoughts?

Nice opening. And I also like the 56. Thanks for sharing. My book this week is Dancing the Death Drill by Fred Khumalo.
This sounds like an interesting book. Enjoy your current read. 🙂
I love mysteries! I’ll be sure to check this and her other series out.
My Friday 56 from The Shack
That beginning kind of reminds me about one of my old cars… 🙂

The beginning did nothing for me, but I was pulled in by the 56! 🙂 Have a great week ahead!
