Amber Gilchrist lives in New Mexico with her husband and six children. She writes YA , Romantic Comedies, and series mysteries. She calls her lifetime of jumping from one job to another ‘experience’ for her books and not an inability to settle down. Amber loves mysteries and a good, happy romance. She also loves to laugh. Sometimes she likes all of them together.
A fan of quirky movies and indie books, Amber likes to be with her family, is socially inept, and fears strangers and small yippy dogs. She alternates between writing and being a mom. She tries to do both at the same time but her kids don’t appreciate being served lunch and told, “This is the hot dog of your discontent.” So mostly she writes when everyone else is in bed.
Audrey Scott might be a children’s librarian, but that isn’t all she can do. When her best friend, Gretchen Holden, stands accused of a murder, Audrey can’t handle doing nothing more than bailing Gretchen out of jail. She has to figure out who really killed Gretchen’s step-father, a universally hated federal judge.
With a not small list of potential people the judge has wronged, Audrey and her friends have a rough ride ahead of them trying to decide who had a motive, means, and opportunity to put the judge in an early grave. With the help of Derek Hennessy, erstwhile enemy turned very good friend, and her normal crew of cohorts, Audrey won’t stop until the threat no longer looms.

The Librarian Shoots and Gun and The Librarian Picks her Poison were both great books! The characters that Gilchrist has created are down to earth and totally relatable, Audrey our librarian is one sassy lady and so funny, she is small and mighty that is for sure.
In The Librarian Shoots and Gun, there is so much going on – Audrey;s sister’s wedding has been postponed as her soon-to-be husbands best friends has gone missing and they wont get married without him there. This little kink in the work sees the police turning up at Audrey’s door demanding to know the where about of said missing friend – given that she has never seen or heard of this guy before she cant help. But that doesn’t stop her from looking for him at the same time as the police. She then gets embroiled up with the mob, possible feelings for Detective Smith and generally puts her life on the line for this guy.
The Librarian Picks her Poison – Audrey is back and this one starts with her getting a call from her best friend, Gretchen, who is in jail charged with murder! Audrey is right on the case in proving her friends innocence and she does everything in her power to find the real culprit. Audrey’s possible love interest Detective John Smith – who we have since learned that this is not actually his real name steps in to help Audrey and her friend.
I really enjoyed both books and cant wait to see what Amber Gilchrist will have in store for sassy librarian sleuth next!
