The House of Lies
Paradise Valley Mystery #7
by Debra Burroughs

This is the last in this series and I am sorry to see it go. I have enjoyed the characters the Burroughs has created in this series. Book 7 the House of Lies sees Emily’s friend Camille and her husband Johnathan at the forefront of a murder investigation. Now that Emily and Colin are married there is definite shift in their working relationship, and I felt that for all the previous books involved one of Emily’s friends in one shape of form she was rather quick to see them as potentially guilty rather than believe they were 100% innocent.

Camille and Johnathan get wrapped in the murder investigation as he was the last person to see Hallis Beckham alive – Johnathan insists he was trying to convince Hallis not to sell the House of Beckham to his wife, but with video proof that he was the only person to be seen leaving the building at the time of death it doesn’t look good.  With the evidence mounting on Johnathan, and the strange daughter Elise form the House of Beckham, this case is certainly putting the pressure on the newlyweds – can they survive it or will it tear them apart?

I loved the twists and how Colin and Emily worked to prove/disprove who-dunnit. Loved this series and really wish there were more, but there are two novella’s The Edge of Lies about Evan & Emily’s life and The Colour of Lies about Colin & Miranda that are bridge stories that I have just discovered so I am off to read them to get my fix.

About the Author

Debra Burroughs writes with intensity and power. Her characters are rich and the stories are full of compelling suspense and real romance. She can be found, most days, sitting in front of her computer in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, dreaming up and writing about strong women, their relationships with men (good and bad), involved in exciting, mysterious, and romantic situations.
