When you’re a kid, you imagine monsters to have horns and fangs. That they hide under the bed or in the wardrobe. And you believe they can only come after you when it’s dark.
You don’t expect them to look like everyday people or that they may be someone you already know…
The summer in question started out with hot, fun-filled days and new friendships.
We had just turned thirteen and had our whole lives ahead of us.
But that was before her…
Before we became known as the Hixton Six and our lives become defined by one night.
It’s hard to believe twenty years have passed since she was locked away.
But now she’s free and strange things have started to happen.
When I close my eyes, the creeping anxiety and fear is overwhelming and all too real.
Because the monster is back, and I know she has a score to settle with us.

REVIEW
Twenty years ago Hannah and her friends – who would become known as the Hixton Five – should have had a summer of fun but instead things took a sinister turn that lead to the murder of her friends brother and the arrest of Mrs Wickham a woman who was an adult and someone they should have been able to trust.
Hannah finds out that Mrs Wickham has been release from prison at the same time a guy called Liam shows up looking to interview her and her friend for a book he writing on what happened all those years ago. Strange things start to happen and Hannah is convinced that it is Eileen Wickham set on revenge.
We are slowly given an insight to what happened in the past when the group were thirteen years old, but it isn’t until practically the end that the full story comes out. Along the way I was sure of who was as the bottom of it all and I give the author kudos on the red herrings making me go down one path only to discover how utterly wrong I was! I thought it was too easy to be a certain person but at the same time it felt so right.
The Sleepover was one of those books that will have you second guessing yourself and at the same time want the story to out in the open straight away, so much so that you will jot out this book down until all your questions are answered.
