Three Small Bones is book 8 in the Detetive Katie Scott series from Jennifer Chase. I joined this series late with book 7 Silent Little Angels, which proves that these can be read as a stand-alone as Chase provides enough backstory on the characters that you will feel you already know them from the get go.
When a fire burns down a house seemingly to cover clues it instead reveals bodies in the basement and a possible link to a 25 year old cold case that Three Small Bones sees Katie and her K9 partner Cisco on the case to find out how these two case’s can possibly be connected.
It was actually nice to see her fiancée Chad make an actual appearance in this book, he seemed so elusive in the last book I read I was beginning to wonder if he was really real or all in her head!
