There’s a killer in Sanctuary, and the prime suspect is a horse.

When spirited Ember Burns is led back home to open her own veterinary practice, her first client lands her in the middle of a mystery. It starts as a desire for Ember to clear her name, and turns into a personal entanglement in a rapidly unfolding story of lies and deceit.

The small mountain town of Sanctuary has always had its secrets. Who can be trusted? It’s been ten years since Ember lived there but roots run deep. Discerning friend from foe isn’t an easy task. Relying on her intelligence and instinct, Ember tries to piece the clues together as the town gears up for its centennial celebration.

From the quaint historic shops, to the rugged mountains surrounding them, Ember works to unveil the true culprit before time runs out.

About the author

Tara Ellis, an Amazon best selling author, lives in a small, rural town in Washington State set in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. She enjoys the quiet lifestyle with her two grown kids and small dogs. Tara was a firefighter/EMT, and worked in the medical field for many years, before committing herself to writing young adult and middle grade novels (almost) full-time.
She grew up on sci-fi, and has since found a love for conspiracy theories. This background, combined with a wild imagination, has led to The Forgotten Origins Trilogy. The first book in the series, Infected, was a finalist in the IAN 2015 Book of the Year Awards, was awarded Honorable Mention in the 2015 Reader’s Favorite Book Awards, and voted as ‘Top 50 Indie Books of 2014’. Her on-going middle grade mystery series, The Samantha Wolf Mysteries, has hit the best seller status on Amazon in the children’s detective story genre several times, and continues to grow in popularity. The engaging, fun stories herald back to the days of Nancy Drew and Trixie Beldon, and several readers have commented that the series is of the same caliber. These are clean reads that are suitable for the whole family to read together, and are also part of the Kindle Unlimited program.

I have volunteered to share my review and all the opinions are 100% my own.

Tara Meyers is a new to me author and I just loved her cozy mystery You Can Lead A Horse To Murder. Ember Burns has returned to her hometown of Sanctuary following the death of her mother and decides to open up her Vet Clinic there after the towns vet retires. Her first job before she even opens her clinic doors is to attend a stressed horse, only she discovers more than she bargained for when she and the owner discover a dead body in the stable along with the horse! All fingers (should that be hoofs) point to the horse trampling the man to death, but Ember discovers more when attending the autopsy that leads her to believe it was not the horse.

What ensues is a tangled web of twists and turns that see’s Embers life threatened on more than one occasion and leaving her unsure who to trust, as she tries to prove the horse is innocent, but who could the real killer and what are they trying to cover up?

This is a  great clean cozy mystery that will have you guessing to the end, cant wait to read from Ember and the town of Sanctuary.
