The Wild Rose Press, Inc (September 30, 2019)
Print Length: 183 pages
Happily settled in her cozy cottage with its resident ghost, Cass Peake looks forward to Halloween. Then another corpse is found on her beachfront. With the support of family and her ghostly roommate, Cass investigates. To her dismay, she finds the murder victim handled her goofy neighbor’s trust fund and he was in dire need of money. The suspect list grows with a former husband, another needy relative, and a maybe shady accountant who suddenly disappears. To top it all off, rumors circulate about treasure hidden in Cass’s cottage.
Detective George Ho doesn’t like his ex-girlfriend snooping around. Despite that, sparks still fly between him and Cass. But superstitious George has no idea Cass’s home is haunted. Can Cass solve the mystery and renew the romance with her ghost-adverse ex?

I struggled with this to start with, it seems that so much has happened to Cass in a previous book that it is barely touched on in this book, I have not read the first book so I was little lost in reading this one. If it is to be a stand alone there needs to be some form or explanation regarding some things to bring a reader up to speed.
Having said that the mystery was good in this book, there is a whole host of wonderful characters. Not only is there a murder – with four possible suspects as to who killed the body on the beach who bears a striking resemblance to Cass, but there is also a side story line of hidden treasure as well as a ghost named Doris, a 1920’s flapper who is trapped in Cass’s cottage and also just so happens to be a sleuth in helping catch the killer.
This was good cozy mystery, and the cover really drew me in, I need to read book 1 to get more back story on some of the characters, but I cant wait to read more from Cass and her ghost!
