All the dogs are dying.

She grew up in the burbs of Detroit with five brothers. No sisters. Each time her mom brought the boy bundle home from the hospital Michelle cried, certain her mom liked boys better than girls. But when her brothers pitched in with the cooking, cleaning, and babysitting–without drama, Michelle discovered having brothers wasn’t so bad. They even taught her how to take direct criticism without flinching, which comes in handy with book reviews.

I received this book through Beck Valley Books Book Tours, I have volunteered to share my review and all the opinions are 100% my own.

This is book aimed at children ages 8 years and up — my oldest is currently 7 year old and loved this story! I mean it has spaceships, mythical creatures and  a “talking” dog.

From my point it was a very strange one and at first I thought it was really weird and couldn’t see where it was going, but after the first chapter you really get into the story. We meet Wily – a nerdy kid who loves his science experiments over sport and in turn misses that father son connection, as his father is always trying to get Wily’s nose out of a book and into sports. Wily gets teased by his peers and he has very little self confidence. But as the book progresses you really see Wily develop from this shy kid into a strong confident and assertive little boy.

After the discovery of a dog pandemic that is killing dogs left right and centre and which takes the life of his own dog – Wily manages to bring it back to life with his little black box experiment that he was working on, this some how manged to alert him to some people and is how he ends up getting kidnapped by a girl with hypnotic eyes and meeting other nerdy kids with “special” abilities not to mention a bad tempered (and quite frankly I didn’t like him) Centaur called DH.

I really don’t want to give too much away, but I loved the idea behind the team of kids that Wily ends up with and I loved how he grew as a character.
