[Tour & review] Hot Flash by Kathy Carmichael

hot flash

What’s the recipe for a happy marriage?

That’s what chef Jill Morgan Storm wants to know, and according to responses to the “Marriage Satisfaction Surveys” she and her closest friends cooked up, the answer is to marry a traveling salesman who is rarely home.

And Jill certainly deserves some happiness, after everything she’s been going through. Her teen-aged son, who only speaks to her in French, needs college tuition. Her crazy mother is determined to find her a man—and only brings her unsuitable ones. A pesky schoolteacher keeps annoyingly trying to fix her life. Her sous chef job is in jeopardy, and, most aggravating of all, her ex-boyfriend has absconded with her favorite skillet.<

What’s a single mom to do?

Faced with the answers to her surveys, she sets off to find the traveling salesman who can share her dreams. Along the way, can she find herself and a man who will claim her heart?

“Birthdays are like a box of Tampax”

With an opening like that I just knew I was going to love this book! This book had me laughing so much at one point my partner just gave a me a look that said “wth”.

When Jill reaches her 40th birthday, her ex husband is now a woman and her son likes to speak in French, a lot. She sets out to find the secret to happy a marriage, so send off surveys to couples who have been married 25+ years and discovers a trend of happy marriages being the result of husbands who work away from home a lot, so she embarks on a mission to find a travelling salesman.

This ensues some disastrous dates and tons of laugh out moments. The humour is brilliant and you can just envision everything that Kathy has written with a smile on your face.A thoroughly brilliant read and I cant wait to discover more books from Kathy Carmichael.
